Monument Regulations
The Bohemia Union Cemetery has rules that are to be followed when considering a monument for your loved one. First, all monuments must be approved before anything is allowed to be installed. We have several companies that we recommend, once you are ready for this step. All monument plans are to be emailed to: RJLOGO1@Hotmail.com for consideration.
*Upon Approval, a Monument Administrative Fee & Foundation Survey Fee, total of $200, is to be mailed To:
Bohemia Union Cemetery
Po Box 45
Bohemia NY 11716
Your Monument company will install and charge you their fee for the installation of the foundation and to erect your monument on it.
48 hours or more Prior to the day of installation, an approved monument and foundation installer, is to contact our office regarding where the monument is to be installed. We will then mark out the area. Contractor is to have on file with our office, a certificate of Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance.
We highly suggest to wait at least one year or more, to allow the ground to settle, before erecting a monument.
Owners of Single width graves are permitted a maximum width monument not to exceed 30". Most measure 24". And the overall height, has a maximum of 36".
The two companies that we recommend and who are familiar with our requirements are:
Stone Unlimited 631-225-5144
Fricke Memorials 631-737-0051
All Monuments installed at the Bohemia Union Cemetery must be installed on a Foundation. No monument regardless of how small, can be installed directly on the ground.
No Individual is permitted to install their own monument. For Liability and Safety reasons, we can not deviate from this rule. If a monument is discovered to have been installed without the boards consent, it will be removed at the owners expense.
One final note. We are aware that many online dealers offer monuments for sale. We discourage the purchasing of these units for several reasons. First, we have no means of accepting delivery of these items. Secondly, since owners are not permitted to install their own monument, you would need to hire a local Authorized Monument dealer to install the necessary foundation then install your monument.
Since our regulations can change at any time, please refer back to this page, or contact our office if you have a question that is not answered here.
